Meet the Doctor
Richard Amstadter DDS
Thank you for taking the time to review my web site. I was born and raised in a small town in Southern California where most of my family still resides. I am fortunate enough to be able to visit them several times a year.
In 1983, I graduated from the University of California, Irvine, where I received a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology with a minor in Social Ecology. I was also awarded Excellence in Research and was published in the Journal of Applied Physiology for work I did in the field of muscle physiology. After working as a clinical chemist for a couple of years, I was accepted to the University of San Francisco School of Dentistry. I graduated in 1988 and received my Doctor of Dental Surgery degree as well as a second Bachelor of Science degree in Dental Sciences. From the time of graduation, I have participated in hundreds of hours of continued education in all aspects of dentistry.
My wife and I moved to this area in 1990 to establish roots and raise a family. I have been practicing here from then on and have treated thousands of patients. Being part of the community is important to our family. My wife Lynn, has worked for Modesto schools for the past ten years and is now a Director for Modesto City Schools where she has just created a state recognized reading program for the district. My two children have both attended Modesto City Schools. My son has recently graduated from Beyer High School and is now attending Fresno State where he wants to become a math teacher. My daughter is still at Bayer and hopes to go to The University of California San Diego.
My philosophy in practice is that my team and I provide dentistry for people, not to people. We will always explain treatment needs and procedures. We will discuss alternatives and predicted outcomes. It is our responsibility to deliver the best care possible. It is our patient’s responsibility to decide which treatment they wish to have done and with our help, to maintain their oral health and any restorations we have provided. We accomplish these goals in a comfortable, relaxed environment. I have introduced new technology into the office to make our patient’s experience as pleasant as possible. Through the use of digital pantograph radiology, patients no longer have to have those irritating cardboard a-ray films placed in their mouths. We can now view the entire mouth using less the 10% of the radiation exposure of traditional radiographs. We also provide CAD/CAM technology which lets us make a crown for your tooth while you wait. No more temporaries to come off and no more second visits to interrupt your busy schedule just to have the final crown put on your tooth. Of course, our sterilization procedures are always state of the art. We always strive to make your time with us a low stress experience.
Please feel free to visit our facility, meet the staff, and ask questions. Once again, thank you for taking the time to review this web site.
